How Much Does Each Brompton Electric Weigh, and What Makes the G Line Different?

Manufacturer, retailer and public-agency sources · 2026-09-24 · no ratings, no road tests

Summary

Brompton's four electric lines share a 250W rear hub motor, a 345Wh battery and four gears, so the choice is mostly about weight and wheel size. Total weight runs from 29.54 lb for the titanium-and-carbon T Line to 42.9 lb for the steel G Line. The G Line is also the only one on 20-inch wheels with hydraulic disc brakes; the other three keep Brompton's classic 16-inch format.

The four lines by weight

ModelFrame materialWeight without batteryTotal weight
Electric T LineTitanium and carbon25.7 lbFrom 29.54 lb
Electric P LineSteel, titanium and carbon28.6 lbFrom 35.05 lb
Electric C LineSteel31.4 lbFrom 39.5 lb
Electric G LineSteel35.8 lb on the lineup page, 34.6 lb on the G Line pageFrom 42.9 lb

The C Line is the original all-steel Brompton with a motor added. The P Line brings in titanium and carbon, and the T Line uses what Brompton calls "an all-titanium frame." Brompton also offers the T Line with "an optional single-speed version for maximum weight savings."

The lineup table describes the P Line as having a "Titanium fork and rear frame." The P Line's own page describes "the lightweight frame with its titanium rear triangle" and a new "carbon fork," so the two pages describe the fork material differently.

The C Line and P Line FAQs say the P Line is "3.3 lb lighter" than the C Line. The table's figures give a gap of 2.8 lb without the battery and 4.45 lb in total, so the FAQ number matches neither.

The G Line changes the wheels, brakes and fit

Brompton describes the G Line against "the classic 16-inch Brompton Electric bikes": it has 20-inch wheels, hydraulic disc brakes and an aluminum fork, and comes with a roller rack, fenders and wide platform pedals. It is also sized, in small, medium and large "based on your height," with reach figures of 477mm, 483mm and 504mm.

The G Line pages give its range two ways, "up to 55 miles" in the description and "up to 56 miles" in the FAQ. Brompton says its battery "takes 5 Hours to charge from 0 to 100% and 4 hours from 0 to 80%." None of the four product pages gives a folded size, so the G Line's folded package cannot be compared with the 16-inch bikes from Brompton's figures.

What all four share

The lineup page describes "a new custom-built 250W rear hub motor" in the e-Motiq system and says that "with the 345 Wh battery, you can explore up to 56 miles in one go." The range FAQ on each model page adds that range depends on "assist level, terrain, and rider weight." The battery unclips "with one quick click," and the system is "independently certified to the UL2849 standard."

Brompton's warranty covers the frame for seven years and the electric system for three, the latter "when you register your bike with us."
