How Wide Is an Addmotor Trike, and What Can Each One Carry?

Summary

Addmotor's four best-known layouts run from 28.3 inches wide on the standard Citytri E-310 to 36.6 inches on the Greattan L passenger trike, with the Grandtan M-340 and the E-325 cargo trike in between at 32.3 and 33 inches. Payload runs from 360 lb on the Citytri to 550 lb on the E-325. All four have a 750W rear motor and a 48V 20Ah battery, and the E-325 is the only one limited to 15 mph.

All figures are from each trike's product page. Addmotor writes most payloads as two numbers added together, and the totals are 360, 450 and 500 lb.

Width is the first number to measure

The Greattan L is 8.3 inches wider than the standard Citytri, and the Plus versions of the Citytri and Grandtan add another 0.7 to 1.2 inches. Against a 30-inch side gate, only the standard Citytri and the Citytri Plus fit, with 1.7 and 1 inch to spare.

Folding the Citytri shortens it but does not narrow it

The Citytri's folded size is 45.3 inches long, 33.9 inches wide and 28.7 inches high on the standard model, and 49 by 34.5 by 37.3 inches on the Plus. That folded width is greater than its 28.3-inch riding width, so the fold trades length for width. Addmotor's answer to a buyer's question says it "folds compactly to fit in most SUVs on the market."

Passenger seat or cargo box

The Greattan L has a seat behind the rider, with a seatbelt for the passenger. Addmotor says that with "a max payload of 500lbs, it's perfect for transporting kids or elders." It comes in single- and dual-battery versions.

The E-325 puts the load in front. Its cargo box measures 36 by 25 by 23 inches on the outside, and a canopy is part of the included accessory bundle, along with two passenger seat belts. In its answer to a buyer's question, Addmotor says children "who can sit independently and maintain good stability can ride in the cargo area," with a 3-point seat belt. It also says the E-325 "weighs about 198 lbs with the battery included," and about 190 lb without it.

What the range figures are based on

Addmotor labels the Citytri, Grandtan and E-325 range figures "PAS1," a single pedal-assist setting, and lists no figure for the others. The Greattan L's 130 miles is given "per Charge (2 Battries)," so the single-battery version has no range figure on the page, and neither version has a stated test condition.
