What Separates One GoTrax E-Bike From Another?

Manufacturer, retailer and public-agency sources · 2026-09-24 · no ratings, no road tests

Summary

Mostly speed, motor size and tires, because the weight limit barely changes. GoTrax lists nine of the 13 bikes in its e-bike collection at 264 or 265 lb, the Alpine and Tundra fat-tire bikes at 300 lb, and the smaller Ranger 16 and Fitz16 kids' bike at 165 and 220 lb. Top speeds run from 15.5 mph on the CTI commuter to 28 mph on three models, and none of the product pages states a class.

The collection's two 750W bikes, the Mustang and the Tundra, list up to 86 and 74 miles at 25 and 28 mph on their cards.

What 264 lb leaves for cargo

The limit covers the rider and everything carried. A 200 lb rider on a 264 lb bike has 64 lb left for a backpack, a lock, groceries and any accessories, and a 240 lb rider has 24 lb. The F2 page shows both figures, with "300 lbs" in the icon row and "Total Weight Limit 264lbs" in the spec table, and the collection card for the F2 says 264 lb.

The E-Cargo is named for its rear rack, and its total limit is the same 264 lb as the other bikes. GoTrax does not list a separate capacity for the rack or any passenger use on the E-Cargo page, which says only that the bike can "carry both you and your things." It also rides on 26 x 3 inch tires, not the 20-inch wheels of a compact cargo bike.

Speed without a class number

No GoTrax product page gives a class for its bike. The collection page says GoTrax bikes "are designed to follow the 3 Class System," and that its "Class 3 eBikes reach maximum speeds of 25 to 28 miles per hour on pedal assist and 20 miles per hour on throttle," without naming the models. The Ranger fits that pattern at 25 mph with pedal assist and 20 mph on the throttle, while the F3, Z4 Pro and Tundra list 28 mph on their collection cards.

The F2 page gives two speed figures, a top speed of 25 mph and speed settings that range "from 7 mph to 20 mph." The CTI is consistent, with five settings "ranging from 7 mph to 15.5 mph."

How GoTrax words safety certification

The CTI, F2 and Ranger pages say "In Accordance With UL 2849." The E-Cargo page has no UL wording. UL itself distinguishes a product certified to UL 2849 from one only tested to it, and a phrase like "in accordance with" does not say which applies or name the lab.
